Han-Bin Liang

Dr. Liang has extensive experience in environmental hydrology, hydraulic and coastal engineering. He has an academic background in riverine, estuarine and coastal hydrodynamics and has applied this knowledge to numerous large engineering projects. In riverine hydraulics, Dr. Liang's experience includes flood control, floodplain management, storm water management, wetland restoration, sediment transport, bridge hydraulics and scour analysis, and roadway drainage.

In coastal and estuarine engineering, his principal areas of interest include wave hydrodynamics, coastal sediment processes, and coastal salt marsh restoration with a strong emphasis on numerical modeling. While at University of California, Berkeley, Dr. Liang completed his doctorate thesis on analyzing wave processes using time series analysis. He is experienced in the analysis of coastal processes including wave hydrodynamics, storm surge analysis, wave runup analysis, tidal hydraulics, sediment processes and mixing processes.

In the last few years Dr. Liang has been involved in several interdisciplinary studies for wetland restoration and multi-objective river management projects, which integrated hydrology, hydraulics, geomorphology, biology, and public access issues. The studies in those projects include the application of analytical methods, which allow flood control, environmental concerns, long-term maintenance, and hydraulic performance of the design to be incorporated into the projects.
